This week, SR2 Blog reported that 11 young homeless gay people could find themselves without sheltered accommodation by January 2010 – next month.

Yesterday, SR2 Blog contributor GarryQ (@GarryQ) tweeted this link to a Labour List news story, advising readers to send a donation of support to homeless charities, Shelter and Centre Point among others.

The message in that Labour List story rang true for us in Sunderland SR2, thinking about the uncertain future of those vulnerable young people just down the road in the Ingleside residence. It would seem unjust, to put it lightly, should the council reject SR2 Housing’s application to remain a safe housing for those in need.

Needless to say, it’s something we’ll be keeping a close eye on in the hope that common sense prevails and that there is no such ‘homophobic undertone’ in our community.

Best wishes from Josh and Garry at SR2 Blog and here’s wishing you a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
