You might have noticed that SR2 Blog is now hosting advertising. Right from the word go, this has been the plan.
You’ll also notice the menial cost of placing an advertisement – just £2 per month. Without wanting to sound too gauche, the cost is that low for a reason: We’re not in it for the profit (who is?!). We’ll be happy when we’ve settled our books – and you can see ‘the books’ below.

One year’s GoDaddy hosting of SR2 Blog costs $67.58, that’s £40.59 sterling according to the XE currency converter.
Best case scenario, if four advertisers advertise for 12 months, that’s £96 income for SR2 Blog – paying off the first year of hosting (10/2009 – 10/2010), the second year of hosting (10/2010 – 10/2011) and a few quid left over, inflation discounted, to put back in the kitty. We don’t think that’s unreasonable, do you?
Importantly, it’s likely SR2 Blog (and many similar ‘hyperlocal’ news sites besides) would have next-to-no revenue stream if it weren’t for the relatively young DIY advertising platform, Addiply.
Thinking of SR2 Blog as your street-corner newsagent, Addiply is the newsagent window. You won’t find any Brussels brasseries advertising on SR2 Blog, you’ll find advertisers that are geographically *much* closer to home – happy publisher, happy advertiser, happy SR2 Blog visitor. Three cheers all round!
Fortunately, Addiply is also brilliantly easy to use – here’s the Advertisers FAQ to show you the way.
