According to the February 2010 Northumbria Police local newsletter, ‘News from your neighbourhood’, police recently took action after residents raised concerns about alcohol disorder in Hendon and Ryhope, and criminal damage in the Long Streets.
The Neighbourhood policing team has since ‘targeted known offenders in the area’ and three people have been slapped with a CRASBO – a criminal anti-social behaviour order.
Amongst other action taken, extra officers have been put on patrol ‘during times when the disorder was worse’, ‘police have executed a number of search warrants’ and the police ‘have worked with partner agencies to provide longer-term solutions.’
